Effect of organic loading rate on the anaerobic digestion of swine waste with biochar addition

چکیده

The aim of this study was to investigate the impact biochar addition on mesophilic semi-continuous anaerobic digestion swine waste with a focus effects organic loading rate (OLR) biogas production, methane yield, total volatile fatty acids (TVFA), alkalinity, ammonium, solids (VS) removal efficiency and process stability. Four reactors, two amended (R1 R2) without as controls (R3 R4), were operated at OLRs in range 2–7 g VS/(L d), which corresponded hydraulic retention times (HRTs) 7–2 days, respectively. initially caused an increase generation when compared control reactors 2 3 d). This behaviour could be attributed presence several trace elements (such Fe, Co, Ni Mn) biochar, are involved action acetyl-CoA synthase methyl coenzyme M reductase catalyse key metabolic steps, especially methanogenic stage. pH, TVFA TVFA/Alkalinity ratio values for effluents remained within optimal ranges process. It also found that OLR 2–5 d) determined proportional VS rate. However, increased up 7 drastic decrease reactors. Biochar amendment contributed more balanced state process, preventing biomass washout.

Effect of organic loading rates (OLR) on production of methane from anaerobic digestion of vegetables waste

In this study, experiments were conducted to investigate the production of biogas from vegetable wastes by using anaerobic digestion process. The complete-mix, pilot-scale digester with working volume of 70 l was used. The experimental protocol was defined to examine the effect of the change in the organic loading rate on the efficiency of the production of biogas and to report on its steady-st...

Maximum organic loading rate for the single-stage wet anaerobic digestion of food waste.

Anaerobic digestion of food waste was conducted at high OLR from 3.7 to 12.9 kg-VS m(-3) day(-1) for 225 days. Periods without organic loading were arranged between the each loading period. Stable operation at an OLR of 9.2 kg-VS (15.0 kg-COD) m(-3) day(-1) was achieved with a high VS reduction (91.8%) and high methane yield (455 mL g-VS-1). The cell density increased in the periods without org...

The anaerobic digestion of solid organic waste.

The accumulation of solid organic waste is thought to be reaching critical levels in almost all regions of the world. These organic wastes require to be managed in a sustainable way to avoid depletion of natural resources, minimize risk to human health, reduce environmental burdens and maintain an overall balance in the ecosystem. A number of methods are currently applied to the treatment and m...

Enhanced Anaerobic Digestion of Organic Waste

Anaerobic digestion (AD) of organic municipal solid waste (OMSW) is considered as a key element in sustainable municipal waste management due to its benefits for energy, environment, and economy. This process reduces emission of greenhouse gases, generates renewable natural gas, and produces fertilizers and soil amendments. Due to its advantages over other treatment methods and waste-to-energy ...
